Our company has pioneered a technology that rivals LNG, called Compressed Gas Liquid™. CGL is a conveyance method for natural gas like LNG is. Both chill natural gas until it is in liquid form so that it can be exported on a ship, stored, and imported into markets that need it.
What is unique about CGL’s process is that it is intrinsically lower carbon than the LNG process, but essentially accomplishes the same thing. The process itself is one that we see done all the time in gas processing plants, we simply rethought the application. Because of our processing efficiencies and low power usage, we have 70% less carbon emissions than LNG for the entire process: production, shipping, and delivery, all while delivering an equivalent quantity of natural gas. This is giant.
I like to say, if CGL had been developed 50 years ago, LNG wouldn’t exist.
Why?
- It needlessly burns 25-30% of the gas to go down to ─256°F instead of ─40°F
- It emits 70% more CO2 than CGL
- CGL carries the gas and NGLs in a single liquid cargo. This means big cost savings, and one ship vs. two
- 1/10 of the land is needed for the export terminals
- It is more profitable
